The canvas has not been lined but has been stripped line. The canvas undulates.

Craquelure throughout.

Rubbing along the right framing edge and some small scattered abrasions through the work, with defined stretcher marks.

Surface dirt and a dirty and discoloured varnish layer.

UV light reveals a localised area of retouching to the far left of the horizon, a small spot in the lower left corner and what looks like some over-painting to the sky in the right side of the composition. A thick reflective varnish layer obscures further reading.
