ZEISS IKON IKOMAT FOLDING CAMERA with DOCUMENTS
Nice antique camera. Rare half-frame box design with 35mm cartridges. It is a unique piece of early photographic design based more on 35mm cinema camera than most still cameras. Designed when 35mm film wasn't considered practical for still photography, in the same decade Leica made their own bid to change consumers' minds on the format. Such cameras were highly praised by American Boy Scouts at the time who, like European Leica users, saw the brilliant benefits of a lightweight 35mm camera for backpacking and mountaineering - a movement which would soon relegate large format cameras to portrait studios and fashion shows. Documents and case are included.
