Description
1789 Captain Cook Voyages Pacific Wallis Carteret Hawaii PROVENANCE Napoleon ?
John Hawkesworth was an important English book editor, most known for his commission to edit Captain James Cooks Voyages. First published in 1773, Hawkesworth edition of Account of the Voyages included the stories of important excursions of John Byron, Captain Wallis, Carteret, and of course James Cook. Sadly, many critics disapproved of his work claiming it to be inaccurate, even though that may or may not have been the case.
