Evangeline Julia Astley Cooper, née Marshall, wife of Clement Astley Cooper, was an English society hostess famed for her lavish entertainment of guests at Hambleton Hall, her country home near Oakham, in Rutland. She is best known today for her friendships with such notable cultural figures as Noël Coward, Malcolm Sargent and Charles Scott Moncrieff.

Glue relined. Dense old varnish layer showing little under UV light. Some restoration around the edges; a few touches in the sky. Some dark areas possibly reinforced, but this is not clear.
