A fine and rare Korean calligraphy painting, hand written by the first Korean President, Syngman Rhee / Rhee Seung Man (1875-1865). Ink on paper measuring 12.5" x 47.5". Signed lower left. Mounted to brocade silk, measuring 17.5" x 59.5". Unframed.
NOTE: the last four photos show examples of Syngman Ree's existing calligraphy works with his signature.
HISTROY NOTE: Syngman Rhee was a South Korean statesman, the first president of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, and the first President of the Republic of Korea (commonly referred to as South Korea). His three-term presidency of South Korea (August 1948 to April 1960) was strongly affected by Cold War tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
