Dextra Quotskuyva Nampeyo (Hopi 1928-2019) Polychrome Jar
1960s-70s, tall semi-ovoid jar painted with bird tails flanked by spirals, signed on the underside in black paint "DEXTRA" accompanied by a drawn image of corn.

Dextra was the great-grand-daughter of Nampeyo of Hano, herself becoming a creative and influential potter. Dextra uses bee weed for black pigment and clay slips for red. She has been the subject of a book entitled "Painted".

Upper rim has glaze loss plus a minute nick; overall good condition with some original potting conditions.
