Woodrow "Woody" Wilson Guthrie (American 1912-1967), "American Folksong", published by DISC Co. of America, New York, 1947, first edition, ink and paint inscribed and signed, royal octavo, softcover book, blue paper cover, in custom clam case. Note: Presentation copy sent to close friend and longtime correspondent Charlotte Strauss with ink and vibrant red overpaint in Guthrie's hand, the inscriptions to the front wrapper reading, "To the woman I found and I lost Charlotte Strauss and still love and will all of my days and nights too, Woody Guthrie", to the rear pastedown in verse stanza form,"You might think/Several thoughts about me/ All of which Would be wrong/I loved the sound/Of your voice/On the fone (sic) WG (circled) May 28, 1947".
