Description
Four piece sterling hot beverage service, late 19th or early 20th century, comprising a teapot, coffee pot, covered sugar, and creamer, each lidded piece having a fruit finial above a round lid, the coffee and tea pots having elongated necks with floral bands above linear incising, the necks issuing square section handles with drop pendants and acanthus leaf accents, the tea and coffee pots having shell stops, the bulbous bodies having wide bands with repousse scenes of putti frolicking amidst ruins framed by bellflower and bow swags, each piece rising on stylized paw feet, the sugar bowl having a gold wash interior, the undersides marked 'Sterling,' having no apparent maker's mark. Provenance from the Estate of Marjorie & Ralph Knowles, Atlanta, GA. Coffee pot approx. 10.5"h, w. 6.25". Approx. weight inclusive of all materials-- 91.28 ozt. (Coffee -- 921 grams, tea-- 969, sugar - 583, cream - 366).
Condition
Tarnish and minor scratches consistent with light use. No dents detected upon inspection.
