Description
This landscape painting on gold leaf paper is attributed to Sun Mou, whose art name was Yan Zhang, ca. 1613-1700. It is a very difficult process to paint with black ink on gold paper, so it was usually more experienced painters who would attempt the process. The inscription has been translated to say that the artist painted this landscape painting for a special patron friend by the name of Qing Yu. The researcher further speculates that the era of the artist is circa 1613-1700, which is late Ming/early Qing.
Painting, ink on gold leaf paper canvas, originally mounted in old silk brocade.
Size of painting: approx. 14 in. H x 14 in. W
Seals: Three seals.
Provenance:
An American family estate collection (circa 1960s)
A Japanese family estate collection (circa 1920s-1930s)
Provenance with the names of the two families will be provided to the winner.

Condition
The gold leaf album painting should be removed from its old silk brocade mounting as it is ragged and torn. The painting is rubbed and there are some stains and tent creases, etc. (See pics)
