Namikawa Yasuyuki (1845-1927), Japanese Cloisonne Wisteria Vase, Meiji period (1868-1912), signed Kyoto Namikawa on underside, decorated with flowering purple wisteria branches on a pale cream ground.Namikawa Yasuyuki was a Japanese cloisonné artist. The former samurai trained at the Kyoto Cloisonné Company before forming his own company. He was named an Imperial Household Artist in 1896. Namikawa was highly lauded, winning dozens of awards over the course of his career, including the gold prize for a piece submitted to the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris. His work can be found in the collections of the Ashmolean Museum, the VIctoria and Albert Museum, LACMA and Khalili Collection of Japanese Art, as well as the Namikawa Cloisonne Museum of Kyoto and Kiyomizu Sannenzaka Museum and the Museum of the Imperial Collections.

Good condition, hairline cracks in top corner with small associated chip, minor pitting to metal on top rim and base.
