David Donkel (1866-1951 Buncombe County, NC), Two Pots
alkaline glazed stoneware, the first is a gallon canning jar, glass glazed showing some rutile, tooled lines at neck above the stamp "D.& D / THE BEST", (10 3/4 in.) (hairline to collar); the second is a small preserve jar with applied ear handles stamped on the underside "DMD" (7 in.) (rough collar and base rims; chips to upper rim).
