Katherine Camille Grantham Smith (Texas, 20th C.), "El Capitan, Highest Point in Texas", oil on board, sight: 18 x 24", frame: 24 x 29"
Provenance: An Arlington, Texas collection, and was entered in to the Texas Centennial Exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Fine Art in 1936. There appears to be a purchase history of the painting written faintly in pencil on the back of the canvas board.
Katherine Camille Grantham Smith was an early Texas landscape artist. Born in Navarro County, Texas in 1892, she studied art and exhibited her works primarily in San Antonio and Dallas.
