Description
MATÃAS SANCHÉZ (Germany, 1972).
"To you", 2001.
Watercolour on paper.
Signed and dated in the lower area. Signed, dated and located (Seville), on the back.
Size: 28 x 38 cm; 43 x 52,5 cm (frame).
MatÃas Sánchez's work is characterised by the creation of worlds with a strong imaginary, where the artist resorts to both figurative elements that he distorts and plastic resources of a more abstract nature. In this particular case, the work shows the naive inspiration that is recurrent in the artist's work, showing very free strokes in which he also introduces calligraphy, thus revealing the title of the work.
A painter of German origin, Matias Sanchez has developed a highly personal work, alien to fashions, which was influenced by his self-taught training. He held his first exhibition at Cavecanem in 2001, and a year later, his work was exhibited at the Arco Fair in Madrid, where it was well received by the critics. In 2003 he repeated his experience at the Contemporary Art Fair, and his work was reviewed and published in the newspaper El PaÃs. This was a turning point in his career and he went on to hold numerous solo and group exhibitions, both nationally and internationally. Among those that stand out the exhibition in the gallery Begoña Mallone (Madrid), Javier MarÃn (Málaga), Valle Ortà (Valencia), Espacio Liquido (Gijón), "Christopher Cutts Gallery" (Toronto - Canada) and Costantini Art Gallery (Milan - Italy), his work has been exhibited in various reference space of contemporary art example of this are the CAAM - Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) or the CAC Malaga.
