Zittel was the last of the prominent potters in Waco (in Madison Co, KY) to produce salt-glazed stoneware at a production level. By 1880 he was joined in the business by his son, Valentine Baumstark Zittel (1864–1912). The son continued the business for a period after Dennis Zittel’s death.
