American Civil War period US and eagle plates including 1.) Regulation m1839 Cavalry enlisted man's belt plate with two "puppy paw" studs and hook on reverse. This exact plate is pictured in American Military Belt Plates by O'Donnell & Campbell as plate #484. Plate measures 56mm x 86mm and presents stamp in solder on reverse "BOYD & SONS/BOSTON. Also stamped on reverse is word "BATTY". Surface of front of plate exhibits even patina with some wear and bumps. 2.) Regulation m1826 Army shoulder belt eagle plate with 3 hooks on reverse. This exact plate is pictured in American Military Belt Plates by O'Donnell & Campbell as plate #462. Plate measures 65mm in diameter and presents stamp in solder on reverse "W.H. SMITH/ BROOKLYN. Surface of front of plate exhibits even patina with several darker spots. Both plates were originally owned by George Kergerreis. Provenance: Gary Wolfer collection.
