Description
A vintage Chinese cinnabar lacquer vase carved with two reserves of flowering branches and rock work on a geometric patterned ground. The lacquer was applied coat by coat to the core in up to 200 coats until a thickness that could be carved was achieved. This art requires an enormous amount of time and labor as each layer must dry and be polished before the next layer is applied. Circa the 1920s. Provenance: Anna Feltsman Estate. Feltsman family: Oscar Feltsman, 1921 to 2013, was a Russian composer of Jewish descent born in Odessa. He was the father of Vladimir Feltsman, born in 1952 a Russian-American classical pianist. Anna Feltsman was the first wife of Vladimir Feltsman. Vintage Chinese Art Collectibles.
Dimensions: H: 12 1/4 in. All measurements are approximate.
