Earl Wilson (1907-1987) Columnist. Wilson was best known for his 6-day a week nationally syndicated newspaper column,” It Happened Last Night”. His book, Let ‘Em Eat Cheesecake, Doubleday, 1949, first edition, signed on the second end-paper “To Miss Cheesecake! Congratulations & Best wishes Earl Wilson.” Also signed by fifteen other celebrities: singer Ethel Merman (1908-1984) “Good luck and best wishes! Ethel Merman June 9/49,” restaurantor Toots Shor “Gene – Keep smiling Toots Shor,” producer Michael Todd (1929-2002 “Good Luck Michael Todd,” actress Joan Blondell (1906-1979) “See what you get for eating too fast!! Joan Blondell,” actress Fanny Ward (1872-1952), radio host Joe Rosenfield, Jr. “Youre # 1 on my cheesecake parade – Big Joe-W-O-R Joe Rosenfield, Jr.,” actress Betty Henderson (1907-1979) “Bad Betty Henderson Enough said,” newsman Lawrence Perry “NANA,” actor Harold Conrad “To Gene My Good Fairy – Harold Conrad,” humorist Herb Shriner (1918-1970) “Hoosierly Yours Herb Shrine,” saxophonist Eddie Davis “Me too!
