Collection of over 100 original fashion designs. Various techniques: Gouache, watercolours, pen and graphite. Mostly signed. - Ginette Douit made her career in the house of the Parisian fashion designer Jean Patou and was one of the brand's most active stylists. After the early death of the "most elegant man in Europe" in 1936, many later fashion icons made their beginnings in the Patou house. In the 1950s, Marc Bohan, the later director of Dior, and the still young Karl Lagerfeld were responsible for the artistic direction of Patou. They were followed in later years by Jean-Paul Gaultier and Christian Lacroix, who took turns at the helm of Jean Patou. This collection contains a variety of excellent designs for dresses (59), belts (25), coats (15), bridal wear (9) and swimwear (7). The designs combine virtuoso spontaneity with a flair for colours and shapes. Historically interesting are the drawings with two-piece swimwear, illustrating the entry of the bikini into the fashion world. - Paper minimally browned. Overall brightly coloured and very well preserved.
Ginette Douit machte im Haus des Pariser Modedesigners Jean Patou Karriere und war eine der aktivsten Stylistinnen der Marke. Nach dem frühen Tod des "elegantesten Mannes Europas" im Jahr 1936 machte eine ganze Riege späterer Mode-Größen ihre Anfäge im Hause Patou. So waren in den 50er-Jahren Marc Bohan, der spätere Direktor des Hauses Dior, und der noch junge Karl Lagerfeld für die künstlerische Leitung von Patou zuständig. Es folgten in späteren Jahren Jean-Paul Gaultier und Christian Lacroix, die sich an der Spitze von Jean Patou abwechselten. Die vorliegende Sammlung enthält eine Vielzahl ausgezeichneter Designs für Kleider (59), Gürtel (25), Mäntel (15), Brautmode (9) und Bademode (7). Die Entwürfe verbinden virtuose Spontanität mit einem Gespür für Farben und Formen. Historisch interessant sind die Zeichnungen mit zweiteiliger Badebekleidung, die den Einzug des Bikinis in die Modewelt illustrieren. - Papierbedingt minimal gebräunt. Insgesamt farbleuchtend und sehr gut erhalten.
