Description
This is a rare and fascinating ancient terracotta clay relic from the kOMALAND culture, present day Ghana, Africa. The Komaland culture is mysterious and not much is known other than the clay idols that are unearthed by farmers and villagers in the region. This example features strong classical facial features and style, large eyes and jutting chin , with a depression on top suggesting use as a ritual object. The statue measures 8.25 inches tall on its professional display stand. Provenance: A Private New Jersey collection.
