A gilt-brass gorge-cased petite sonnerie carriage clock, A gilt-brass gorge-cased petite sonnerie carriage clock, late 19th century, French, by Le Roy & Fils, the quarter striking movement with a pair of nested bells, with a repeating button for the hours, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals and inscribed 'Le Roy & Fils Pals. Royal Gie. Montpensier 13-15 Paris', '296 Regent Street London', with bevelled glass plates, within its original fitted tooled leather case and with original key, clock 16cm high case 18cm high Provenance: Sir Francis Elliot, the British Minister to Greece during the First World War, thence by descent. Condition Report: The clock has been ticking and striking, although we cannot guarantee this will continue due to the nature of the item. The strike is a little dull in pitch. Wear, scuffs and losses to the leather case. Wear to the brass finish.
