Extraordinary silver vase by maker David Crichton Rait & sons, dedication that mentions the queen .the vase is finely crafted and has a plethora of elements made in very fine hammering and engraving in silver of animals in a wide variety of organic models and icons, in the center there is a handcrafted engraving bearing the inscription "vincere vel mori" - win or die, handle sculpted in the figure of a woman and integrated with carved organic material, the dedication in the vase's base has the inscription: "D.C.RAIT & SONS goldsmiths to the queen glasgow".Maker's mark and English silver hallmark to the handle and on the dish, light curvature to the jug's side.Weight: 825 grams.Height: 33 cm.* The auction house does its best to characterize and describe the items in the catalog.
