Vietnamese Imperial Blue & White Porcelain Lidded Vase W/Fu Dog Lugs & Animal Form Handles (Has Eight Character Marking) From Queen Mother Tu Cung Hoang Thai Hau - This Imperial porcelain vase has a stunning stylized wave and foliate design in a vibrant blue underglaze. The vase has an unglazed, scrolling dragon around the length of the vase and a five claw finial top on the lid. The vase has key fret accents on the neck and lid, fu dog lugs and animal form handles. The rims on the vase and top are unglazed, and the piece bears a horizontal eight character marking at the base of the neck. There is an approx. 1.5" repair on the lid due to damage during war, please see photos. This piece comes from the estate of a Vietnamese Royal Family (the family now lives in the United States, and wishes to remain private), and once belonged to the Queen Mother Tu Cung Hoang Thai Hau (Empress Dowager Doan Huy) who kept the piece in her personal collection before it was passed down. This is a true modern day treasure, and a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a piece of Vietnamese history.
