Japanese Hanging Scroll. Portrait of Shoki the Demon Queller, a deity from China’s Taoist pantheon, who was often depicted in Edo-period Japanese sculptures and paintings. Ink and pigment on paper. Size: 51'' x 26'', 130 x 66 cm (image); 91'' x 33.5'', 231 x 85 cm (scroll). Provenance: Sylvia and Philip Chaplain Collection, New Hampshire.
