Pair of American Carved and Polychromed Oak Altar Chairs, 19th c., the peaked pierced Gothic arch crest, flanked by trefoil topped columns, over a Gothic arch back flanked by scrolled curved arms, to a seat with a removable cushion, on twist carved legs joined by a Gothic skirt and chamfered stretchers, H.-51 in., W.- 23 in., D.- 23 in. Provenance: from the Estate of Dr. Peter Elwood Dorsett, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Condition
Groove inside the proper right side legs are worn, so they are loose and do not screw in properly. Minor surface scratches throughout per normal wear. Handsome example.
