Embroidered Festival Decoration For Cow, India, Early-Mid 20th C. Cotton, applique, embroidery. The flap covers the Brahman cow hump. Cows are considered sacred animals in Hindu communities and so are worshipped and decorated during festivals. Size: 4'1'' x 5'2'' (124 x 157 cm). Provenance: The Carol Summers Collection of Indian Folk Textiles.
