This extremely rare stock was issued at the beginning of Nevada Territory (established March 1861). The company was incorporated June 11, 1860 when the area was still part of the Utah Territory. Stocks incorporated in 1860 are the earliest that can be found. Those issued in 1861 are still extremely rare and hard to find. On top of that this is even rarer as a 'Mill' stock. # 79 for ten shares issued to Nathaniel Page on August 17, 1861 in San Francisco. Signed by president Nathaniel Gray and secretary David Jennings. Almarin B. Paul, not named on the certificate, was the leading force behind this company, inventor of the Washoe process and superintendent of the company. The Washoe process used by this company changed the value of Comstock ore with its more efficient method of processing the ore. Almarin B.
