The two large folding plates that are present show A Plan of Babylon [and] The Tower of Babel. Called "Edition Secunda", this is the first Estienne edition, it combines the Latin and Greek texts in parallel columns. Includes excerpts from Xenophon, Plutarch and others. Henri Estienne, Jr. (Latinized as Stephanus) was a humanist scholar and printer who carried on the Estienne family printing business achieving a high level of accuracy and gaining a reputation for textual criticism. The second edition corrected and enlarged the 1566 edition. Lacks the 12 leaves of index at the end and 2 of the 4 folding plates. Schreiber; #222; Renouard; p. 155, no. 3.
