Description
NO RESERVE [Heseltine (Philip Arnold)] "Peter Warlock", after. Bethlehem Down, autograph music score, 2pp., 4to, Eynsford, November 1927.
⁂ Autograph score for perhaps Warlock's best known carol although not in the composer's hand. It was written with Bruce Blunt for submission to the Daily Telegraph's annual carol contest in 1927, the prize money for which subsidised an 'immortal carouse' on Christmas Eve. Warlock includes a starred note at the foot of the first page: "This Carol to be sung by unaccompanied voices whenever possible-".
