Large acrylic on canvas portrait of actor, screenwriter, librettist and producer Jack Larson, shown accompanied by his dog, Dewey, by Richmond, Virginia artist Louis Briel. Actor, producer, librettist and screen writer, Jack Larson is best known for his portrayal of Jimmy Olsen in the TV show, The Adventures of Superman. He was the partner of director James Bridges, and at one time involved with actor Montgomery Cliff. Louis Briel specialized in celebrity portraits. His painting of Princess Diana is held in the private collection of Sir Elton John; the singer had the painting accompany him and hang in his dressing room at every stop on his world tour. In 1993, the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian in Washington DC acquired Briel's portrait of tennis great and Richmond, Virginia native Arthur Ashe.
