Ca. 1-100 AD A gold finger ring comprising a round hollow hoop with sets of three fine granules to each shoulder flanking the bezel set with an amethyst intaglio skilfully engraved with a depiction of a sphinx - a mythical creature with the head of a human, the haunches of a lion, and the wings of a bird.
