A very old and fine Dutch Italianate landscape of nuns feeding the poor in front of the ruins of a Roman basilica, the image by the old master of the Dutch Golden Age. The same image appears in 18th c. engraving after Swaneveltexecuted by French engraver Louis-Joseph Mondhare. Presented behind glass in a frame that measures 17 1/2" x 23 1/2".

Condition
Margins trimmed and sheet laid down on early 20th c. British artists board. Typical toning to the sheet inside the mat sight from exposure to light, leaving a very slim lighter-toned border at the edges of the sheet behind the mat. Small amount of subtle creasing.
