Peru, Central Highlands, 1000-400 B.C. An eight-pointed star-shaped jasper votive macehead, with lentoid-section body, bevelled central circular socket. Cf. The Metropolitan Museum, accession number 1994.35.627, for a broadly comparable example; cf. El Mundo del Museo, 'Cabezal de masa Cultura Mapuche (siglo XV) Chile', for comparable. 73 grams, 68 mm (2 5/8 in.). Acquired 1960-2010.
