TEXTILE: Pieced quilt with center medallion, c. 1790-1825, cotton, linen, diamond pieced from the border Indian block print, surrounded by nine-patch blocks alternating with unpieced calico blocks, the drops are made of an Indian-type block print, predominant colors are brown, madder red, and cream, with pencil blue, (some of the prints are seen also in quilts at Old Sturbridge Village), the backing is plain-woven cotton/linen, knife edge, good condition consistent with age and use, 102" l. x 105" w. [PROVENANCE: Purchased from Hadassah, Whalley Ave., New Haven, in 1975.]
