1st-early 5th century A.D. A discoid tinned bronze mirror with decorative groove around the perimeter, accompanied by a discoid case with slightly splayed edge, decorative engraved concentric circles to the upper face of the case; mirror trapped within case. Cf. The British Museum, museum number 1924,1213.42, for a comparable Romano-British example. 177 grams, 10.5 cm wide (4 1/8 in.). Ex Louis-Gabriel Bellon (1819?-1899), France. Acquired on the French art market in 2009. Private collection. This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate no.113-21-189895.
