Description
TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10, personal letterhead, April 12, 1939. Letter to Jack Collins of the Webster Herald Corporation, in part: "When a town becomes a centurion, in this country, the occasion becomes more than one of congratulations. It is also one of hope. In the older and more static countries, the centuries pile up without much visible changes, but the dynamics of American life have pressed extraordinary progress into the hundred year life of our cities, and their anniversaries celebrate achievement but tender also a challenge for the next cycle's growth. I hope for the Town of Webster a hundred years more of growth and grace in the authentic American tradition, which looks forward as well as back." In fine condition, with scattered small stains.
