Emil Schinagel - Polish Jewish painter, doctor.
He studied medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the Jagiellonian University, after graduating, he began studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in the studio of Teodor Axentowicz. He belonged to the Polish Legions, but no information about this period of the artist's life has survived. He continued his artistic studies at the Academy in Brussels, after graduating he traveled around Europe.
During this period, he stayed longer in Paris and then in Antwerp, where in 1930 a solo exhibition of his work took place. Four years later, at the Institute of Art Propaganda in Warsaw, Emil Schinagel exhibited a large collection of watercolors and gouaches. He participated in the formation of the Zwornik artistic group, with which he exhibited his works. He belonged to the Association of Jewish Artists, Painters and Sculptors, dealt with wall painting, illustrated books and was the author of essays on art. He died in 1943 in the Lviv ghetto.
