Item Details
Description
During the 1970s, Rodney Leftwich followed the regional folk pottery traditions of western North Carolina. Inspired, he purchased a potters wheel and learned to make pottery. His first pieces included traditional utilitarian forms glazed slips, crushed iron rock, and wood ashes. Rodney also worked at Pisgah Forest Pottery where he helped revived these old traditions. Rodney takes the teapot form and creates a folk pot out of it w/ the creative use of a snake that wraps around both as the handle & the spout. Plus there is an applied lizard. And the lid is a devilish face pot. Signed on base Leftwich Pottery NC MTNS. 9.5" tall x 11".
