Description
During the 1970s, Rodney Leftwich followed the regional folk pottery traditions of western North Carolina. Inspired, he purchased a potters wheel and learned to make pottery. His first pieces included traditional utilitarian forms glazed slips, crushed iron rock, and wood ashes. Rodney also worked at Pisgah Forest Pottery where he helped revived these old traditions. This face jug harks back to the 1996 one in the last auction. Bonus decoration with the hair. A very happy face jug indeed! Signed on base RHL NC MTNS. 4.75" tall x 5".
