Description
During the 1970s, Rodney Leftwich followed the regional folk pottery traditions of western North Carolina. Inspired, he purchased a potters wheel and learned to make pottery. His first pieces included traditional utilitarian forms glazed slips, crushed iron rock, and wood ashes. Rodney also worked at Pisgah Forest Pottery where he revived these old traditions and only recently closed that shop to pursue other pottery interests. This is an uncommon face jug by him dated 1996. Signed RHL. Stands 5" tall.
