Description
(1841 - 1935) Associate Justice of the Supreme Court (1902-1932) known for his vigorous opinions, often in dissent, a narrow constructionist and advocate of legislative prerogative, promulgator of the ‘clear and present danger test for freedom of speech. A.LS., 2pp. 8vo., Washington, D.C., date unknown. A very difficult to read letter, however, it seems that Holmes is politely refusing an invitation to Charleston, South Carolina. Fine.
