(1753 – 1813) American attorney and politician, 7th Governor of Virginia and delegate to the Constitutional Convention, serving on its Committee of Detail. First Attorney General and subsequently the second Secretary of State during George Washington's presidency. A.N.S., 1p. 6.5 x 4 in., in part: ‘...I have dated the check tomorrow...You will be pleased not to present it till the afternoon...by which time I will have my account reduced to accuracy...’, signed ‘E.R.’. Folds, chipping, and light spotting. Overall, very good.
