The engine was featured in the August 1974 Hot Rod magazine (See in images included)Alderson (known as Muldoon) and Loveless decided in 1974 to build a Model B 4-banger using off the shelf parts so your "every day hot rodders" could put some buzz into the common four-cylinder a lot of rodders were using back in the day to motivate both their rods and everyday drivers.Loveless had the idea to come up with a parts list from supply house catalogs and put together a "kit" any hot rodder could access once he developed the parts needed to meet all the necessary go fast requirements. He spent some 240 hours combing through parts interchangeability manuals to find the pieces that could be adapted to the Model B block, but could be ordered through most any parts house.His work paid off handsomely when he discovered such treasures as 9:1 Venolia pistons for small block Chevys were an easy slide in and ’49 to '51 Lincoln exhaust valves (remember this was 1974!) could be used with '67 to '69 Olds guides, late Hemi rear main seals and '49 to '51 Mercury retainers. All of the parts found could be easily adapted and in all cases if there was machining needed, it would be easy peasy to complete.The project never quite got to the end so the "kits" could become reality, but it did create one very important engine.
