In the middle of May 1927, Henry Ford declared that his famous Model T was being retired and that an entirely new car would soon be coming from Ford Motor Company that would be a vast improvement and help keep Ford at the top of the sales list. On December 2, 1927, everyone held their breath to get a look at this new Ford and when the curtains were raised there were no disappointments. A modern car for the masses with an engine that had twice the horsepower rating of the Model T, and smart, handsome body styles to fit the need of every customer. A ceremony was set where Model A #1 was to be gifted to Ford’s friend and inspiration, Thomas Edison. Fitted with a sleek Cabriolet body, Edison let Ford know after the cameras were turned off, that he would have preferred an enclosed car, so #1 was taken back to the factory and the body was switched out for more suitable sedan. For 1930, a major restyling of the Model A brought the Ford cars into the new decade with modern styling which culminated with the final edition, the 1931 Model A.

For 1931, Ford offered a total of over 20 models and body styles in what would be the last year for “Henry’s Lady” as many referred to this car. The Model A was not assembled only in the USA but were also produced and quite popular in, our neighbor to the north, Canada. This attractive coupe we are proud to offer had been treated to a full professional level restoration. It is finished in deep rich Washington Blue with gloss black fender and the wire spoke wheels in their original Tacoma Cream. The interior is completely renewed with gray mohair seating with the same material used for the luxurious look of the door panels. While the odometer currently shows just over 23,400 miles, we cannot be sure of the true miles. This cozy coupe is fitted with a vintage winged Moto-Meter radiator ornament and has a protective grille-guard over the radiator. The trunk is roomy and spacious, perfect for a little weekend excursion or for carrying one’s belongings on an outing with fellow vintage car enthusiasts. The serial number plate affixed to the car shows a number from Ford’s run of 1929 Model As. The engine in this car carries a 1928 Ford of Canada serial number; however, this wonderful little coupe is titled as a 1931. Ready to go out on a summer excursion, this is one fine little automobile that will turn heads and put a smile on whoever is behind the wheel.
