A page with signatures and musical quotations on both sides; obverse with Johann Baptists Strauss II (1825-1899) autograph musical quotation of his famous waltz "By the Beautiful Blue Danube", three bars on a single-stave system, signed and dated "Wien 24 April 94", the obverse with Camille Saint-Saens (1835-1921) autograph musical quotation from "Africa: Fantasy for Piano and Orchestra, Op. 89 (1891)" signed and dated "14 Juin 1893"; framed with glass on both sides

Provenance: From an important collector of musical autographs and manuscripts, Stamford, CT

Likely part of a collection of signatures from female composer Louise Damcke (1827-1897), who evidently traveled with a book of signatures and had many composers sign for her along with musical annotations of their works. This would explain why the paper is signed on both sides. Several manuscripts and autographs included in the previous owner's collection (and offered in this sale) were acquired from hers.
