Ca. 200 AD A gold ovoid pendant setting with a suspension loop enclosing a cameo depicting a bust of Julia Domna, the Roman empress from 193 to 211 as the wife of Emperor Septimius Severus. She is portrayed in her right profile with delicate face details, and her hair is pulled back to a chignon. The item has undergone X-ray fluorescence analysis to confirm the metallurgical content suggesting its ancient origin and lack of modern trace elements. Size: L:29.5mm / W:17.8mm ; 5.08g Provenance: Property of a London Ancient Art Gallery; formerly in the famous Alison Barker collection, a retired London barrister; acquired between the early 1960s to 1990s.
