Roman Gold and Mother of Pearl Pendant with Cornelian Intaglio, c. 2nd Century A.D.
The centre set with an oval cornelian intaglio engraved with the figure of man seated on a throne, holding a mirror in one hand, a staff in the other, nicely framed by a band of fine granules and a line of mother of pearl beads. The suspension loop decorated with rope pattern filigree. Exquisite.
Size:3.4 cm L (including loop) - 1 5/16 inch
Material:Gold, Mother of Pearl and Cornelian, total weight= 7.4 grms
