The Fighting Temeraire.- Harvey (Sir Eliab, naval officer and politician, captain of the Temeraire, 1758-1830) 2 Autograph postscripts signed to two Autograph Letters from his wife Louisa to her daughter Louisa Lloyd of Aston Hall, together 9pp. and address panels signed by Eliab Harvey, Liphook [Hampshire] & Rickmans Hotel [London], [3rd & 9th December 1805], written after the Battle of Trafalgar, "two letters dated Portsmouth from yr Father in which he says that Temeraire, R[oyal] Sovereign, Tonant [Tonnant], Collophus and Leviathan had been only 13 days from the Old Rock of Gibraltar... Portsmouth... yr Father... looking quite well as happy as he ought to be after such a victory he has been gone to the Hospital two hours with his Surgeon... I promise them a piece of Temeraire - the Fougeux had 500 men killd by Temeraire and the Redoubtable I believe 300 - one of the French Captain is a great strapping man with emence earrings... the Temeraire at Gibraltar was named the Pride of England and Terror of France... the Victory is just anchord at Spithead", folds, torn where opened, first letter address panel loose; and c. 20 others, letters to Louisa Lloyd of Aston Hall, Shropshire and Viscount Milton at Peterborough, also an invitation to a Ball at Buckingham Palace, v.s., v.d. (c. 20).
