Letter Signed ('Winston S. C.'), with autograph postscript, Chartwell Manor, Westerham, Kent, September 20, 1927, 2pp., to Max Aitken, Lord Beaverbrook, folded, two holes punched, otherwise excellent.

CHURCHILL SHIES AWAY FROM THE SILVER SCREEN.
Churchill declines the offer of being filmed with the new process of talking pictures saying, 'I am in a far humbler class than the individuals you mention, and have no right to such prominence. Lloyd George, as a war figure and as a world statesman would be far more appropriate. Moreover, I am not sure that I could do it very well and perhaps the exhibition would make me as many enemies as friends.' Churchill suggests that Beaverbrook instead visit so that they could discuss the situation at home and abroad 'over a sound bottle of 1906.' He restates his position in the autograph postscript: 'I have decided to eschew Ambition & Advertisement for the future.'
