VERLAINE PAUL: (1844-1896) French Poet. Considered one of the greatest in French poetry. A.N.S., signed twice, P. Verlaine, one page, oblong 8vo, Paris, 13th May 1886, to Mr. Vanier, in French. The document fully written and dated in Verlaine´s hand is a receipt, on Leon Vanier´s printed stationery, stating `Received from Mr. Vanier Editor, the sum of fifty francs, fourth and last payment as copyright for ''Les Mémoires d´un Veuf'' according to agreement´. Bearing to the lower left corner a tax stamp with annotation in the hand of Verlaine, cancelling the debt `Cancelled on 13th May 1886, P. Verlaine´ Few small pinholes to the left border with clipped upper left corner, otherwise G Léon Vanier (1847-1896) French Bookseller and Verlaine´s Editor.
