A pair of George III sterling silver candlesticks, Sheffield 1774 by John Winter and Co
Each base of square form with a gadrooned edge, the incurved sections with die-struck neoclassical urns cornered with acanthus leaves, one side with an oval cartouche. One engraved with a crest of a demi grey hound gorged with a fess indented, the other vacant (replaced). The incurved square and waisted fluted columns corned with goat’s feet and headed with goat’s masks forming a circular section, the capital sat upon a knop with chased laurel wreath, then fluted atop of a border of Greek Key. Each with removable circular sconces with laurel wreath edge. Filled, green felt bases. Each fully marked to the edge and part-marked to sconces. (2)
